President
Mr. Paul Schwarz, a retired teacher of English and Public Speaking, is Board President of Meals-on-Wheels of White Plains, and devotes time to various other local not-for-profit boards and organizations involving seniors, youth and intergenerational programming. (Term ends 2012)
Secretary
Ms. Yuki Itoh Haynes is a former intellectual property legal assistant who is currently at home raising her two young children. She and her family have been White Plains’ residents for more than 10 years, and they are all avid library users. (Term ends 2012)
Ms. Luz Barrera is an economist who is using her business background to promote personal financial education though nonprofits such as United Way and Qualitas of Life Foundation. She has been a White Plains resident for more than 10 years and is an active member of the local Hispanic community. (Term ends 2011)
Ms. Denise J. D’Ambrosio is an attorney with a private legal practice in White Plains, a parent of three children who attended the City of White Plains Public Schools, and a resident of the City of White Plains for more than twenty four years. (Term ends 2013)
Mrs. Hope Furth is a retired mathematics teacher. She has lived in White Plains for over 50 years and is a dedicated White Plains Public Library user. She also is vice-president of the Westchester Library Association Board of Trustees and a Trustee of the Smithsonian Institute Libraries where she serves on the Executive Committee. (Term ends 2012)
Mr. Tim James is an attorney at Cohen Rabin Stine Schumann, LLP, a firm specializing in matrimonial and family law. He is a Vice Chair of the Westchester County Democratic Party (Term ends 2011)
Mrs. Denise O. Matthews-Serra is a parent of two daughters and has been a member of the community for over 20 years. She is Communications Chair of the Gedney Neighborhood Association and Co-President of the White Plains PTA Council. Currently, she is a Certified Pension Consultant and Compliance Analyst at Pentegra Retirement Services here in White Plains. (Term ends 2013)
Mr. Thomas Scherer has lived in White Plains since 1977 and is the father of three recent graduates of the White Plains school system. He retired from bond insurer MBIA in 2008 and now works as a municipal bond analyst for Berkshire Hathaway Assurance Corporation in Stamford, CT. (Term ends 2013)
Dr. Chris Clouet is the Superintendent of White Plains Public Schools. He worked at the Rockefeller Library while studying at Brown and has served on a number of state and regional committees regarding Information Technology in education. (ex-officio)
